About Adrienne Brant James
Adrienne Brant James, MSW, is founder and President of Turtle Island Learning Circle in South Dakota and Michigan, and an enrolled member of the Mohawk Nation, Bay of Quinte Band, Iroquois Confederacy. She has served on the clinical faculty of the University of Michigan Fresh Air Camp and as an instructor for the Wayne State University School of Social Work. She has developed educational and treatment programs for special needs populations in Michigan including the first Circle of Courage alternative school. Adrienne is currently completing research for the book Moccasin Paths and other Trails which is designed to foster cultural pride among Native American and First Nations peoples, and to promote a deeper understanding of how indigenous science and western research can contribute to the positive development of children, families, and communities in any culture.
